Hey hey hey,

It’s Friday, everybody! And not only is it Friday, it’s also the last day of the month and the last official day of winter. If that’s not cause for a ‘woohoo!’ I don’t know what is…

Sure, snow might be forecast for later today (gotta love those crazy UK weather systems), but that’s no reason not to feel spring-like; if you can’t get some dewy freshness in your life outside, why not bring it in to your kitchen?

Our splashbacks are the perfect bobby-dazzlers to shine up your space. We’ve got a variety of different colours on offer, too, from cool monochrome tones to riotous red to stainless steel – suitable choices for all solid wood kitchens, we like to think. Best of all, whether you opt for glass or steel, you’ll be injecting some seasonal sparkle into your kitchen – that’s a given.

So come on, bring some spring-time radiance to your kitchen with a new splashback, and watch the room ‘bloom’ before your very eyes…

Ta ta for now,

Hi folks,

So, we learned a new fact today: ‘winter’ is officially classed as December, January and February in the UK.

Why is this a good thing? Well, for starters, it means that in just over a week we’ll be out of winter and into spring…

And of course, all this chat about spring has us thinking of meadows, rolling hills, and all things bright, beautiful and natural. But sadly there isn’t much in the way of verdant foliage in the deTerra office – though it’s always in our hearts – and to be honest we’re doubtful that the 1st March will in fact herald an amazingly green transformation in the weather. So colour us surprised (excuse the pun!) when we stumbled across this utterly awesome ’Random Tree Generator’ online!

Simply click refresh and you’ll be treated to virtual tree upon gorgeous tree: huge thanks to the creator, Kenneth Jorgensen! What a cool dude. Literally hours of wholesome fun awaits (and the black and white renderings are oh-so-pleasing to the eye).

If only wooden kitchens grew on trees, we hear you cry. Well, at www.deterra-kitchens.co.uk, they kind of do. Take our kitchen wooden worktops, for example: these sustainably sourced slabs of terrific timber will imbue your kitchen with the natural beauty of an actual tree. Just, y’know, without the bark. Or the branches.

Check out our super sample service and you’ll soon see what we mean… at just £5 per sample including VAT and delivery, there’s plenty of bang for your buck.

Ta ta for now,

Howdy!

Well, it’s the most lovey-dovey day of the year, St. Valentine’s. Speaking of which, did you know that the day was first created as an entirely separate entity to the swoonsome holiday we’ve come to know and adore/hate? Most believe that the first connection between Valentine’s Day and romance was articulated by Geoffrey Chaucer, the famous English poet:

For this was on seynt Volantynys day
Whan euery bryd comyth there to chese his make.

Or, in modern-day English:

For this was on St. Valentine’s Day,
When every bird cometh there to choose his mate.

Just a bit groovier than that old ‘roses are red’ ditty, eh?

We’re affectionate souls here at deTerra, so we’ve got a little gift for y’all. Now, while natural kitchens might not be seen as that romantic, one might say, they’re still a pretty big part of our customers’ lives: so we thought we’d make the installation process a little bit easier!

The Blum EcoDrill – a recent addition to our website – is now available for hire or purchase. A truly handy little number, once the tool is clamped to your frontals it drills the required hinge holes for your Blum hinges with super-duper accuracy. So what are you waiting for? Show your oak kitchen cupboard doors some love this Valentine’s Day by, er, punching little apertures in them… with absolute precision. The precision part makes it all better. It’s a treat, honest.

Happy Birthday Cabineto!

Greetings, dudes and dudettes,

Okay, so I have a confession to make. I looked at the calendar today and realised that I’d committed that cardinal sin – y’know, the one you never recover from in a relationship: I forgot an anniversary.

Last week was the anniversary of our lovely blog; the apple of my eye; the light of my life! How could I forget?!

I’d therefore like to take this opportunity to give a big thank you to all my readers, the deTerra team and of course our little mascot Cabineto (he looks so much younger than his ripe old age of… er, one). Thank you all for a wonderful year! *wipes away tear*

As a reward, we’ve got some pretty pictures to show; just click on to our Kitchen Units page and check out the glorious ‘unit spec’ diagrams. Each variation of cabinet has a handy pop-up that gives you more details on the particular type of cabinet, along with some key facts. A pretty darn useful point of reference when planning oak kitchens, wouldn’t you agree?

Enjoy, my pretties…

Ta ta for now,
